Carlo Alessi is the son of Alessi's founder Giovanni Alessi. Carlo was head of design at Alessi from 1935 until the early 1980s, and from the 1950s he also served as Alessi's director. Carlo Alessi developed the company from producing practical products to being a design company in collaboration with renowned external designers. Carlo Alessi was director until his death in 2009.
