BRITA MAXTRA+ scale filter is an updated and improved version of the classic Maxtra filter, used in your BRITA water filter jug to remove limescale and contaminants from the water that affect taste and smell.

The MAXTRA+ cartridges can filter up to 100 litres of water, but should be replaced about once a month for optimal performance.

The filter consists of ion-exchange resins and activated carbon made from coconut. The activated carbon is produced by first charring the shells of coconuts at around 200–300°C. Steam is then added to activate the carbon and give it a huge surface area that can absorb as much limescale as possible.
