Alessi 9093 kettle is a design icon in itself - a beautiful kettle made of stainless steel with a black handle. The kettle has a reptile sitting on the spout to mark the kettle's 30th anniversary.
The original bird on the anniversary model has been replaced by the amusing copper-coloured reptile, which is a prehistoric, mythological and futuristic creature: Tea Rex. The dragon is a reference and tribute to Chinese culture, where it symbolizes strength and fortune. The wording “Tea Rex 9093 30th anniversary” is engraved on the lid.
The 9093 is an absolutely fantastic kettle, designed by Michael Graves in 1985, and which today is Alessi's number one bestseller with over 2 million units sold!
The conical kettle is made of mirror-polished stainless steel while the handle, the lid's knob and the bird are made of nylon. The kettle has a capacity of 2 litres.
Alessi 9093 kettle can be used on all types of hob - including induction. If used on a gas hob you should expect the kettle to become discoloured, and this is not covered by the warranty.
The classic kettle from 1985 is a perfect combination of mass production and great design, which designer Michael Graves worked hard to achieve. Graves also gave the kettle a personal touch with a mix of Art Deco and Pop Art.
Michael Graves was an American designer and architect who was part of the “New York Five” - five architects who advocated a pure form of modernism. Graves created a large number of remarkable buildings, bl.a. hotels for the Walt Disney Company. The classic kettle he designed for Alessi is to date Alessi's best-selling product.
