The kettle is the electric version of the popular stovetop kettle designed by Michael Graves in 1985. It is equipped with an electric base, which means that the kettle itself is cordless and therefore suitable for serving.
The classic kettle from 1985 is a perfect combination of mass production and excellent design, which designer Michael Graves worked hard to achieve. Graves also gave the kettle a personal touch with a blend of Art Deco and Pop Art.
The electric kettle is made of highly polished stainless steel and colored plastic.
Michael Graves was an American designer and architect who was part of "New York Five" - five architects who advocated a pure form of modernism. Graves created a number of remarkable buildings, bl.a. hotels for the Walt Disney Company. The classic kettle he designed for Alessi is to date Alessi's best-selling product.
